Job Overview:
The Caseworker position is pivotal in providing trauma-informed services to refugees and other qualified immigrants, ensuring they have a positive resettlement experience and can achieve self-sufficiency. The Caseworker will engage closely with clients to assess their needs and develop tailored service plans that encompass a wide array of resources, including financial, medical, social, and vocational services. This role requires a compassionate approach, as the Caseworker will be instrumental in guiding clients through the complexities of resettlement, helping them navigate various systems and access necessary support. The Caseworker will also be responsible for monitoring client progress and making adjustments to service plans as needed, ensuring that each client receives the appropriate level of support to meet their unique circumstances and goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Caseworker's responsibilities include conducting intake assessments to identify client needs and developing personalized self-sufficiency plans with clear timelines and goals. They will provide direct services, referrals, and advocacy to assist clients in accessing essential resources such as housing, healthcare, education, and employment. The Caseworker will monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting service plans as necessary to address any challenges that arise and ensure that clients are on track to meet their goals. Accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions is crucial, as is inputting data into relevant databases and assisting with reporting requirements. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is essential to coordinate services effectively and build a robust network of community resources. The Caseworker may also be responsible for training and leading the activities of volunteers and interns, and they will perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Caseworker position should possess a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field of study, although relevant professional experience in the human services field is also highly valued. A minimum of 2 years of experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong relationship-building skills, diplomacy, and networking abilities, with a proven track record of effective communication in a multicultural environment. They should be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing duties effectively. Attention to detail and accuracy in work products are essential, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to utilize digital tools for data entry and research.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is preferred for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to effectively support clients in their resettlement journey and navigate the complexities of human services.

Experience:
The position requires relevant professional experience in the human services field, with a minimum of 2 years strongly preferred. Experience working directly with refugee and/or immigrant populations is highly desirable, as it equips the Caseworker with the necessary insights and understanding to address the unique challenges faced by these communities.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in languages spoken by IRC’s clients, such as Dari, Farsi, and/or Pashto, is highly desired and would enhance the Caseworker's ability to communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Notes:
The working environment for this position includes a combination of standard office settings, remote work, and field time within the service delivery area. The role may require occasional weekend and/or evening work to meet client needs. Compensation for the position ranges from $21.00 to $23.00 per hour, with the exact offer calibrated based on work location, individual candidate experience, and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
