The World Health Organization (WHO) serves as the directing and coordinating authority for public health within the United Nations system. Established in 1948, WHO's mission is to promote health, ensure that everyone can attain the highest level of health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable through partnerships with people and countries. WHO operates in over 150 countries and has a workforce of more than 7,000 employees, working towards improving global health outcomes and addressing public health challenges.

Job Overview:
The Supply Data Specialist position is critical within the WHO's Operational Support and Logistics (OSL) function, particularly in the context of the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt). This role focuses on managing a complex multi-corridor supply chain that involves both local and international procurement, humanitarian shipments, and partner support for the movement of goods into Gaza. The increasing volume and complexity of shipments necessitate a robust information management system to provide real-time visibility across corridors, especially the Egyptian corridor. The Supply Data Specialist will ensure that accurate and timely supply chain information is available for WHO, partners, and coordination mechanisms, serving as a vital analytical and coordination link between procurement, logistics, and partner engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Supply Data Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the direct supervision of the Operations Support and Logistics Lead. Key duties include:
  • Supply Chain Information Management: Tracking the Egyptian Corridor supply chain from end-to-end, consolidating existing WHO supply monitoring datasets, and visualizing data in dashboards to aid operational decisions.
  • Partner Pipeline Management: Requesting weekly pipeline updates from Health Logistics Working Group (HLWG) partners, consolidating submissions, and ensuring accurate data display in the HLWG dashboard.
  • Partner Request Management Platform: Supporting the establishment of a digital platform for transport support requests from partners, coordinating with the Logistics Coordination Cell for timely reviews and approvals.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Producing weekly and monthly analytical reports for senior management, providing visualizations for internal meetings, and responding to ad hoc information requests.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex datasets. Proficiency in data visualization tools and experience with supply chain management are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. A commitment to integrity and professionalism is crucial, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, public health, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of supply chain principles and practices, particularly in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in supply chain management, logistics, or data analysis, preferably within a humanitarian or public health setting. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable. Familiarity with the operational challenges in the occupied Palestinian territory or similar contexts will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local partners and stakeholders. Additional languages may be beneficial but are not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Cairo, Egypt, which is classified as a family duty station with good living conditions and access to various services. The UN Associate Volunteer will receive a Volunteer Living Allowance of approximately USD 1306 per month, along with entry and exit lump-sum payments. Medical and life insurance coverage is provided, and volunteers have access to training resources through the UNV E-Campus.
