Job Overview: The Manager, Finance Shared Services, plays a crucial role in overseeing the centralized finance operational support provided to IRC local offices through the Finance Shared Services model. This managerial position is responsible for supervising Shared Services finance staff and ensuring that all assigned finance operational tasks are completed in a timely, accurate, and consistent manner. These tasks include processing accounts payable, supporting donor invoicing, conducting reconciliations, uploading budgets, and managing other routine financial activities. The Manager collaborates closely with both HQ Finance and local office leadership to ensure that finance operations are efficient and standardized across all offices. Additionally, the Manager acts as the primary coordination point for finance operational requests from local offices, which involves receiving, prioritizing, and assigning these requests to Financial Analysts and Shared Services staff. The role also includes monitoring task completion, providing technical guidance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of financial support provided to field offices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Shared Services Team Management: Supervise and support Financial Analyst(s) and Finance Shared Services staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring workloads, and providing guidance on financial processes and coding compliance.
Request Intake & Workflow Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for finance operational requests from local offices, prioritizing and distributing tasks to Shared Services staff while ensuring timely completion.
Finance Operations Oversight: Oversee shared services activities such as accounts payable processing, donor invoicing support, reconciliations, month-end close tasks, and budget uploads. Review completed work for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with IRC financial policies and donor requirements.
Budget & Financial Systems Oversight: Manage the review and upload of grant and program budgets into financial systems to ensure coding accuracy and alignment with approved grant agreements.
Cost Allocation Management: Oversee shared services cost allocations to local offices, ensuring costs are tracked, documented, and appropriately charged.
Training & Coordination: Coordinate or provide training to Shared Services staff and local office personnel on financial processes, systems, and shared services procedures.
Process Improvement: Support the development and implementation of standardized processes to improve efficiency and consistency of shared services support.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support finance operations and the Shared Services function.
Required Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
Experience: A minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or financial operations is required. Experience in supervising staff or coordinating team workflows is essential. Experience in supporting grant or project-based financial management is preferred, along with experience working in nonprofit organizations and/or donor-funded environments, which is strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies: A strong understanding of accounting principles and financial operations processes is necessary.
