Job Overview: The advisor" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Advocacy Advisor will work under the supervision of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director of Advocacy, with the primary responsibility of defining, developing, and coordinating ACF's advocacy strategy towards European decision-makers, focusing primarily on humanitarian policies (75% of the role) while also ensuring the organization's visibility among institutional targets (25%). This position requires a strategic thinker who can effectively implement the European advocacy strategy and support advocacy efforts in crisis-affected countries, collaborating with regional, national, and international advocacy officers as needed. The role also involves contributing to ACF France's overall advocacy strategy to integrate European issues across all sectors. The Advocacy Advisor will manage one Advocacy Project Officer, ensuring that the team operates efficiently and effectively towards common goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Define, develop, and deploy ACF's advocacy strategy at the European level, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Implement the European Union advocacy strategy, engaging with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
Support advocacy efforts in country offices and among crisis-affected populations, providing guidance to regional, national, and international advocacy officers as necessary.
Contribute to ACF France's global advocacy strategy by integrating European issues into all relevant sectors.
Manage and mentor one Advocacy Project Officer, fostering a collaborative and effective team environment.
Develop training tools and resources to enhance advocacy skills within the organization.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of advocacy programs and strategies, making adjustments as needed.
Engage in public speaking and represent ACF at various forums and events to promote the organization's mission and objectives.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and other relevant organizations. 1
Prepare and present reports and documentation related to advocacy activities and outcomes.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in defining and implementing training tools, managing advocacy programs, developing communication methods and campaigns, and creating project facilitation tools. Strong leadership skills are essential, with the ability to define collective effectiveness with team members, unite around common objectives, and make difficult decisions while communicating them effectively. The candidate should prioritize simple and accessible solutions based on situational needs. Excellent listening skills and the ability to adapt communication styles to establish trust with stakeholders are crucial. The candidate must be autonomous, organized, and capable of managing priorities and taking initiative in their work. Proficiency in negotiation, public speaking, and document writing is required, along with a strong appreciation for teamwork.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background in international relations, humanitarian studies, public policy, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in advocacy or humanitarian work will be considered an asset.
Experience: Candidates should possess significant experience in advocacy, particularly within humanitarian contexts. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in advocacy roles, including experience in managing teams and developing advocacy strategies, is preferred. Experience working with European institutions and understanding of EU policies related to humanitarian issues will be highly advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly French or other European languages, is considered a plus and will enhance the candidate's profile.

The position is based in Brussels, with a requirement for 3 days of in-person work, aside from collective in-person meetings. The salary range is between €51,000 and €55,000 gross annually, depending on experience, and includes additional benefits such as 10 extra vacation days (based on a 12-month period), meal vouchers, supplementary health and dental insurance, group insurance (pension), and field travel allowances.
