Job Overview:
The position of Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) for Nature Finance Specialist at the IFC is designed for a highly motivated individual who will support the Nature Finance Team in advancing IFC’s nature finance business. This role is crucial as it focuses on ensuring operational effectiveness and institutional visibility of the Nature Finance Team while also contributing to the operationalization of the WBG's Nature Finance Tracking Methodology at IFC. The consultant will be involved in various workstreams, including building awareness and capacity on Nature Finance across IFC investment teams, developing client engagement materials, conducting research to support investment transactions, and ensuring effective reporting and administrative tasks related to the team’s budget and resources. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying and developing nature finance opportunities and engaging with various stakeholders to foster business enabling environments that generate measurable positive outcomes for nature.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Extended-Term Consultant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including: executing the strategy to advance IFC’s nature finance business, building awareness and capacity on Nature Finance across investment teams, developing tailored client engagement materials, conducting research to support investment transactions, leading the team’s engagement in Project Supervision Report cycles, managing administrative tasks related to the team’s budget, preparing high-quality technical briefs and presentations for senior management, conducting portfolio screening and assessments of IFC projects for nature finance, supporting the development and implementation of systems for nature finance tracking, maintaining an Excel database to track nature finance assessments, preparing various documents related to nature finance tracking, designing training sessions for capacity building, and undertaking other related activities as agreed upon with the team lead.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as sustainable finance, business, environmental or public policy. Additionally, a minimum of 8-12 years of work experience in sustainable finance, private sector and project development, climate, and development finance is required. Experience in nature finance or nature-based solutions is preferred. The candidate should have a strong understanding of IFC’s approach to nature finance, the ability to work in a dynamic team setting, experience in designing and implementing organizational processes, and the capability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is essential, along with outstanding analytical, research, writing, and critical thinking skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as sustainable finance, business, environmental or public policy. This advanced degree is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively contribute to the Nature Finance Team's objectives and initiatives.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8-12 years of relevant work experience. This experience should be in areas related to sustainable finance, private sector and project development, climate, and development finance. Candidates with experience specifically in nature finance or nature-based solutions will be preferred, as this aligns closely with the responsibilities of the role and the objectives of the Nature Finance Team.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, which is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. Additionally, proficiency in Spanish and/or French is considered an asset, as it may enhance the consultant's ability to engage with a broader range of clients and partners in various regions.

Additional Notes:
This position is a local recruitment opportunity with a term duration of 1 year. The consultant will be expected to work in-person at the Washington, DC headquarters.
