Job Overview: The Health Cluster Information Management Support position is crucial for enhancing the functionality and effectiveness of the Health Cluster Information System (HCIS). The role involves supporting the development, administration, and continuous improvement of HCIS, which includes maintaining core datasets such as 5Ws (Who does What Where), Health Service Points, and partner contacts. The incumbent will monitor system functionality, troubleshoot issues, and assist in testing fixes and enhancements. Additionally, the role requires the design and implementation of ad hoc surveys and assessments to gather evidence on health needs and emerging challenges. Daily technical support to partners and focal points on data entry and reporting issues is also a key expectation. The position will contribute to data collection, reporting, analysis, and visualization, ensuring that health response data is accurately compiled and disseminated to inform decision-making and planning.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Health Cluster Information Management Support include:
Supporting the development and administration of the Health Cluster Information System (HCIS) to maintain core datasets.
Monitoring system functionality and troubleshooting issues, including providing user guidance and documentation.
Assisting in the design and implementation of surveys and assessments to generate evidence on health needs.
Providing day-to-day technical support to partners regarding data entry and reporting.
Supporting the collection and consolidation of health response data from partners.
Reviewing partner submissions for completeness and consistency.
Conducting routine data cleaning and quality checks to ensure dataset accuracy.
Analyzing and visualizing collected data to identify trends and gaps.
Supporting the production of Health Cluster information products such as bulletins and infographics. 1
Participating in internal and inter-agency meetings to align IM priorities with operational needs.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include a strong understanding of information management principles and practices, particularly in health-related contexts. Proficiency in data management software and tools is essential, along with experience in data analysis and visualization techniques. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey information to various stakeholders. Familiarity with health systems and public health issues, particularly in conflict-affected areas, is highly desirable. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing circumstances is also crucial.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a degree in public health, information management, data science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset. A solid educational background that combines health knowledge with technical skills in data management is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field is required. Experience working in humanitarian settings or with health organizations is highly advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate a track record of successfully managing data projects and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local partners and stakeholders. Additional languages may be considered an asset, depending on the context of the work.
Additional Notes: This position is designated as a remote national UN Volunteer role, meaning the volunteer is responsible for securing their own housing and covering related living expenses. The initial contract duration is six months, with potential extensions based on funding availability and performance. A monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) will be provided to assist with housing and living costs. The volunteer will also receive life, health, and permanent disability insurance coverage, including health insurance for eligible dependents, as well as an exit allowance upon satisfactory completion of service.
