Job Overview:
The consultancy role is designed to provide technical expertise and input on various communications, including reports, speeches, and articles, ensuring that the scientific content is adapted to suit the audience, venue, and message. The consultant will play a crucial role in raising awareness about the nuclear techniques developed within the department, thereby enhancing public understanding and engagement with the subject matter. This position requires a strong ability to communicate complex scientific ideas clearly and effectively to both scientific and general audiences, ensuring that the information is accessible and relevant to stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for drafting speeches for the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director General and departmental reports, utilizing scientific inputs from expert staff within the department. They will develop promotional materials related to Research and Development in nuclear technologies, tailored for specific events such as the General Conference. Additionally, the consultant will maintain and update the internal Departmental website and relevant external web pages, ensuring that content is consistent with the Agency's style and statutory requirements. Collaboration with the Office of Public Information and Communication is essential for preparing promotional materials and exhibitions that showcase the department's achievements to targeted audiences, adhering to the guidance provided by the Office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree (bachelor's) in Communications, Public or Foreign Relations, Science, or a related field. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in communication and technical writing is required, with a preference for candidates who have strong international experience. Experience in communicating scientific and technological subjects is essential, and a degree or work experience in scientific fields would be advantageous. Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory, while knowledge of other official IAEA languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Public or Foreign Relations, or Science. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of communication in the context of nuclear sciences and applications, as well as for effectively engaging with diverse audiences.

Experience:
The consultant should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in communication and technical writing, ideally with a strong international focus. This experience should include a proven track record of effectively communicating complex scientific and technical information to various audiences, demonstrating an ability to adapt messaging to meet the needs of different stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the IAEA. Knowledge of additional official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is highly desirable and would enhance the candidate's ability to engage with a broader audience.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy offers a daily fee of up to a maximum of €300, which is determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. If travel is required as part of the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs will be covered. It is important to note that health coverage and pension fund responsibilities lie with the consultant.
