Job Overview: The UN Volunteer will play a crucial role in supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of digital initiatives aimed at enhancing food and nutrition security in Ghana. This position involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including UN agencies, government bodies, and NGOs, to leverage technology for youth empowerment. The volunteer will assist in tracking project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among partners. The role also includes preparing presentations, briefs, and progress reports, as well as organizing meetings and maintaining comprehensive documentation. The overarching goal is to bolster the digital capacity of Ghanaian youth, facilitating informed choices in nutrition and well-being, and enhancing their engagement in economic activities through digital solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the UN Volunteer include:
Supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of ICT-related initiatives, ensuring adherence to timelines and deliverables.
Maintaining proactive coordination with partners and stakeholders to address administrative requirements and implementation issues.
Assisting in the preparation of presentations, briefs, and progress reports to communicate project status effectively.
Reviewing progress reports from partners and providing constructive feedback to enhance reporting quality and timeliness.
Organizing and coordinating meetings, ensuring comprehensive meeting notes and minutes are documented for effective communication.
Supporting the procurement of ICT devices and solutions necessary for project implementation.
Managing and following up on project service contracts, tracking deliverables, timelines, and compliance with procedures.
Generating functional specifications for developing digital solutions that meet project requirements.
Coordinating logistics for deployments and training sessions related to digital initiatives. 1
Engaging with key stakeholders to explore collaboration opportunities in the digital landscape. 1
Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving. A background in information technology, project management, or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with digital solutions and their application in food and nutrition security is advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate adaptability, creativity, and professionalism in their work, with a commitment to the mission of WFP and the values of accountability and flexibility.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in information technology, project management, social sciences, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in digital solutions, project management, or related areas would be beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in project support, particularly in ICT-related initiatives. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or in a humanitarian context is highly desirable. Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in the field of food and nutrition security is a plus.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of WFP. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Ghana would be an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes: This position is a volunteer role under the United Nations, and it is expected to be full-time. The incumbent will be based in Accra, Ghana, which is a category B duty station.
