Job Overview: The Mapping and Referral Coordinator position at the IRC is a limited-term role focused on enhancing the community-facing technical assistance and capacity-building efforts of the Switchboard initiative. This role is crucial for the period from April to September 2026, where the coordinator will be responsible for identifying, organizing, and connecting community partners with essential resources and services tailored for ORR-eligible populations. The coordinator will build upon existing state-level resource mapping by conducting thorough research, verifying, and documenting programs provided by ORR-funded initiatives, government agencies, local nonprofits, and community organizations across the United States. The position requires a proactive approach to strengthen the referral system by establishing clear pathways to mapped community resources and initiating referrals based on specific criteria such as location, eligibility, and individual needs. The Mapping and Referral Coordinator will work closely with the Senior Program Officer for State and Community Capacity Building (SCCB) and collaborate with various partners to ensure effective service delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Mapping and Referral Coordinator include:
Completing and expanding state-level resource mapping to ensure comprehensive coverage beyond already mapped regions.
Researching and documenting programs that serve ORR-eligible populations, including those offered by ORR-funded initiatives, state and municipal programs, local nonprofits, community-based organizations, and grassroots initiatives.
Verifying and maintaining up-to-date contact information, eligibility criteria, and service offerings for all mapped programs.
Supporting a comprehensive referral system that enables program officers and managers to efficiently refer callers to appropriate services based on location, eligibility, and needs.
Ensuring consistency between the resource map and referral pathways.
Developing and maintaining a searchable, organized database of mapped resources for use by Switchboard staff.
Collaborating with the Switchboard communications team to ensure that public-facing materials are updated with the latest mapping data.
Contributing to tracking, reporting, and quality improvement of program processes with the help of the Switchboard Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team.
Tracking referral trends and outcomes, contributing to ongoing evaluation and reporting, and identifying gaps in service coverage. 1
Staying updated on eligibility policies and service delivery changes. 1
Providing consultation, coaching, and mentoring to community partners as needed. 1
