The Latin America and the Caribbean Office (LACO), located in Panama City, collaborates closely with 33 countries in the region, including 16 small island developing states, serving a population of approximately 650 million people. The UNEP Country Office in Brazil acts as a key development partner for the Brazilian government, supporting both national and sub-national public and private sector institutions, as well as civil society, in their efforts to create a more sustainable and inclusive society by fostering a new relationship between people and nature, and balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability.

Job Overview:
The intern will be working under the direct supervision of the UNEP Brazil Office Representative, primarily supporting the implementation of activities related to the Brazil Office. This role involves delivering daily communications and translation activities, contributing to the Communication Team's efforts. The internship is designed for a six-month period, is unpaid, and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week, totaling 40 hours. The intern will engage in strategic communications planning and processes that align with UNEP's mission, enhance the organization's visibility, and raise public awareness on critical environmental issues. The position also entails maintaining and updating the UNEP Brazil website and social media platforms, collecting background information for various communications materials, and assisting in the organization of workshops and seminars.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include: engaging in strategic communications planning to support UNEP's mission; maintaining and updating the UNEP Brazil website and social media; collecting background information for reports, newsletters, and project documents; updating the office's mailing list and contributing to network expansion; supporting media relations to generate positive news coverage; assisting in organizing publications and data; gathering information for the Office Representative; preparing drafts of documents and correspondence; developing graphic materials and editing audio-visual content; organizing workshops and seminars; translating documents between English and Portuguese; screening incoming correspondence and calls; and performing other clerical tasks as required.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: be enrolled in a Master's Degree program or in the final year of a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Media and Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertisement, Marketing, Languages, Translation, Fine Arts, or International Relations; or have graduated with a university degree in one of these fields. Additionally, candidates must be computer literate in standard software applications (MS Office), demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and possess the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a background in Media and Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertisement, Marketing, Languages, Translation, Fine Arts, International Relations, or any relevant Communication field. This can include being currently enrolled in a Master's or Bachelor's degree program or having completed a degree in these areas.

Experience:

Languages:
