Job Overview: The position involves supporting the Ministry of Preschool and School Education in Uzbekistan as part of the UN Joint Programme aimed at improving equitable access to inclusive and climate-resilient learning environments for children and adolescents. The consultant will work on revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for primary and secondary education settings to align with new legal frameworks regarding the protection of children from violence. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to develop policies and training materials that enhance the capacity of educators to prevent and respond to violence against children, including gender-based violence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop a comprehensive Child Safeguarding Policy for primary and secondary education settings, incorporating international standards and national legislation.
Review and revise existing SOPs to ensure they align with the latest legal and policy frameworks on child protection.
Create practical guidelines for teachers and school personnel on implementing the Child Safeguarding Policy and SOPs.
Adapt the Child Safeguarding Policy into a child-friendly format suitable for different age groups.
Conduct a one-day training of trainers (ToT) for selected master trainers on the developed training materials.
Develop a monitoring tool to assess the implementation of the Child Safeguarding Policy and SOPs at various levels of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.
Required Qualifications: A Master's degree in Social Science, including Law, Social Work, or Psychology, is required. Candidates must have at least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in child protection, particularly in areas related to violence against children. A strong understanding of international standards and frameworks regarding child rights and protection is essential, along with excellent drafting, writing, and presentation skills in English. Previous experience with UNICEF in child protection is advantageous, and knowledge of Russian is considered an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Social Science, Law, Social Work, or Psychology. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of child protection and the legal frameworks involved.
