Job Overview:
The National Communications Consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and positioning of UN Women's work in Uzbekistan. This position involves providing integrated communications support at both strategic and operational levels. The Consultant will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing communication, advocacy, and visibility initiatives across various thematic portfolios, including women's economic empowerment and gender-responsive budgeting. The role requires the ability to translate complex programme results and research findings into clear and impactful communication products tailored to diverse audiences. The Consultant will ensure alignment with UN Women branding guidelines and donor visibility requirements while applying innovative approaches to effectively communicate results and impact. This position is vital for strengthening UN Women's strategic positioning and enhancing public engagement in gender equality initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Programme Communications and Advocacy Support: Design and implement communication strategies that support programme interventions in women's economic empowerment, care economy, gender data, and social norms transformation. Develop compelling messaging for policy advocacy and public outreach.
  • Partnerships and Private Sector Visibility: Implement communication strategies in line with UN Women and European Delegation visibility rules. Promote gender-responsive workplace policies and women's entrepreneurship through targeted visibility materials. Engage with national media stakeholders to enhance gender-equitable content production. Develop innovative communication initiatives with advertising agencies and social media companies.
  • Campaigns and Social Norms Transformation Initiatives: Contribute to campaigns aimed at transforming harmful social norms and promoting gender equality.
  • Events and Public Engagement: Support communication planning for programme launches, policy dialogues, and partnership events. Develop communication materials and post-event outputs.
  • Facilitate Knowledge Building and Sharing: Organize training and workshops on communication and advocacy.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, social science, project management, literature, arts, or a related field. A master's degree in a similar field is considered an asset. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Uzbek, with proficiency in Russian as an asset. Experience in communications, advocacy, media relations, and marketing is essential, along with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, social science, project management, literature, arts, or a related field. A master's degree in a similar or related field is an asset, providing an advantage in the selection process.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3 years of progressively responsible work experience in communications, media relations, or marketing. Experience in content development and social media usage is essential. Familiarity with gender equality and women's empowerment issues is an asset, as is experience in EU and/or UN projects.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Uzbek is required for this position, with Russian considered an asset. Knowledge of any other UN official language is also an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile.
