Job Overview:
The National Consultant for Provision of Just Energy Transition Trainings is tasked with delivering specialized training sessions aimed at facilitating a just energy transition in Mozambique. This role is crucial as it aligns with global efforts to combat climate change while ensuring that the transition to renewable energy sources is equitable and inclusive. The consultant will be expected to develop training materials, conduct workshops, and engage with various stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and private sector representatives. The position requires a deep understanding of energy policies, social equity issues, and the local context of Mozambique's energy landscape. The consultant will work over a period of 30 days, spread across two months, to ensure comprehensive coverage of the training objectives and to adapt the content to the needs of the participants.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National Consultant include:
  • Conducting a needs assessment to identify the specific training requirements of stakeholders involved in the energy transition.
  • Developing tailored training materials that address the identified needs and align with best practices in just energy transition.
  • Facilitating training sessions and workshops, ensuring active participation and engagement from all attendees.
  • Collaborating with local experts and organizations to enhance the training content and delivery methods.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the training sessions through feedback and assessments, and making necessary adjustments for future sessions.
  • Providing ongoing support and resources to participants post-training to reinforce learning and implementation of concepts.
  • Reporting on the outcomes of the training sessions and providing recommendations for further capacity building initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in energy policy, sustainable development, or a related field. They should have proven experience in conducting training sessions or workshops, particularly in the context of energy transition or climate change. Excellent communication and facilitation skills are essential, along with the ability to engage diverse audiences. Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Mozambique and its energy sector is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to promoting social equity and inclusion in energy access and transition.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Energy Policy, Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, or a related field is required. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree may be considered if they have extensive relevant experience in the field. Professional certifications related to energy management or training facilitation will be an advantage.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of professional experience in energy policy, sustainable development, or a related area. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in Mozambique or similar contexts is highly valued. Proven track record in designing and delivering training programs is essential, as well as experience in stakeholder engagement and capacity building.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all training materials and sessions will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Portuguese is highly desirable, given the local context of Mozambique. Knowledge of local languages may also be beneficial for engaging with community stakeholders effectively.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a consultancy role for a fixed duration of 30 days, spread over two months. The consultant will work on a part-time basis, with flexibility in scheduling training sessions. The role is open to both national and international candidates, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
