Job Overview:
The Enterprise Adviser position is designed to provide professional-level enterprise advisory services, including conducting independent assessments of labor standards and management systems at the enterprise level. The adviser will produce high-quality reports detailing assessment findings, recommendations for improvement, and progress reports on implementation. This role requires a strong understanding of labor standards compliance and the ability to provide enterprise-level consultancy services aimed at improving performance. The Enterprise Adviser will work closely with national constituents and contribute to the project's monitoring and evaluation strategy, ensuring that the services provided are effective and aligned with the goals of Better Work. The position is based in Dhaka and requires a proactive approach to translating project tools and approaches into practical applications at the enterprise level.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Enterprise Adviser include:
  • Conducting independent enterprise assessments of labor standards and management systems.
  • Producing high-standard reports in English on assessment findings, recommendations for improvement, and enterprise improvement plans.
  • Reviewing reports from other advisors as part of the peer review process to ensure quality assurance.
  • Providing high-quality consultancy services to improve enterprise performance, including coaching and facilitating management and union improvement committees.
  • Adapting Better Work products for individual enterprises based on specific needs.
  • Offering technical advice for the development of Better Work research, products, and strategies.
  • Contributing to the project's monitoring and evaluation strategy and knowledge management.
  • Supporting the financial sustainability strategy of the project by encouraging enterprise participation in project activities.
  • Collaborating with national constituents to implement services in the industry. 1
  • Performing other duties as required by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Enterprise Adviser position include a university degree in international development, law, occupational health and safety, industrial engineering, industrial relations, gender studies, human resource management, adult education, or other relevant fields. Equivalent experience may also be considered. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and have a good understanding of Bangladeshi labor-related laws and regulations. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to facilitate group discussions and resolve conflicts effectively.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a university degree in relevant fields such as international development, law, occupational health and safety, industrial engineering, industrial relations, gender studies, human resource management, or adult education. Equivalent experience in these areas may also be accepted, highlighting the importance of practical knowledge alongside formal education.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of professional experience in areas such as social dialogue, capacity building in the private sector, corporate social responsibility, occupational health and safety, and industrial relations. Experience in labor standards compliance and remediation is particularly valuable, as is familiarity with behavioral change initiatives and industrial engineering.

Languages:
The position requires an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Bengali. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and reporting within the role.

The contract type for this position is Short Term (ST) with a duration of 6 months. The recruitment process is open to both ILO internal candidates and external candidates, with specific local recruitment and eligibility criteria for National Officer positions.
