Job Overview: The Programme Analyst position at UN Women in Bangladesh is pivotal in supporting the effective management of programs aimed at eliminating violence against women and girls (EVAW). The role involves contributing to the design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of programs that align with UN Women’s strategic objectives in Bangladesh. The Programme Analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including government officials, civil society, and donors, to ensure successful program implementation. This position requires a strong understanding of gender-based violence (GBV) prevention strategies and the ability to analyze program results to inform decision-making. The Programme Analyst will also play a key role in capacity building for partners and ensuring that the programs are responsive to the needs of women and girls in Bangladesh, particularly in the context of the ongoing challenges posed by societal norms and practices that perpetuate violence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute technically to the development of program strategies in the area of EVAW, providing inputs to the design and formulation of program/project proposals.
Support the implementation and management of the EVAW program by coordinating activities, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with financial and narrative reporting requirements.
Monitor and report on program/project progress, ensuring that results and indicators are tracked effectively.
Manage the financial aspects of the EVAW program, including budget monitoring and revisions.
Assist in building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies, contributing to relevant documentation and maintaining databases.
Support inter-agency coordination on EVAW programs to ensure alignment with other partners in Bangladesh.
Contribute to advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts related to the EVAW program, including organizing events and developing knowledge management products.
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A project/program management certification, such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®, is considered an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, knowledge of GBV prevention and response, and the ability to gather and interpret data effectively.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position includes a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted. A project/program management certification is also beneficial.
Experience: At least one year of relevant work experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building is required. Experience in the prevention and response to ending violence against women is desirable, as is experience in coordinating with government agencies and donors.
Languages: Fluency in English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable.
