Job Overview:
The Program Temporary Support Assistant position is designed to provide hands-on, real-world experience for individuals aspiring to develop their skills within a humanitarian organization. The primary purpose of this role is to support campaigning, policy research, and public engagement efforts aimed at addressing the root causes of hunger and enhancing humanitarian diplomacy in the Horn of Africa. The assistant will be involved in various responsibilities, including researching policy issues, monitoring humanitarian landscapes, supporting digital campaigns, assisting with workshops and event logistics, drafting advocacy materials, and providing administrative support to advocacy leads. Under the guidance of the Regional Advocacy Specialist, the assistant will help implement Action Against Hunger's advocacy strategy, increasing the organization's influence and visibility in the Horn of Africa and raising awareness of its mandate and programs among partners, donors, the media, and the general public.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Program Temporary Support Assistant include supporting the planning, development, and implementation of advocacy activities. This involves assisting in the creation of advocacy and external relations activities, including multimedia packages, policy and research analysis, toolkits, and social media content for engagement. The assistant will also support the advocacy department in producing and finalizing advocacy and external relations products, as well as planning and implementing advocacy workshops, campaigns, and events. Monitoring humanitarian landscapes in the Horn of Africa's strategic priority areas relevant to Action Against Hunger USA is also a key responsibility. The assistant will manage external relations, including the organization's website and social media platforms, and contribute to monthly newsletters in collaboration with the Global Communications team. Additionally, the assistant will ensure that all communication products and project deliverables are appropriately branded, seek out interesting stories from programs, and support advocacy and external relations initiatives. Other duties may include reporting on communication in Action Against Hunger's programs, supporting accountability systems, and building the organization's reputation in humanitarian diplomacy.

Required Qualifications:
