Job Overview: The Manager II, Board Engagement & Giving plays a crucial role in advancing CRS's philanthropic strategy by engaging Foundation and Governing Board Directors. Reporting to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Senior Director of Board Engagement and Giving, this position is responsible for designing and implementing stewardship and engagement strategies for board members, with the aim of contributing to the success of CRS's comprehensive fundraising campaign. The Manager will work collaboratively across divisions to ensure that a select portfolio of givers, including current and potential board members, are equipped to act as philanthropic leaders, connectors, and ambassadors for CRS's mission. This role involves managing a portfolio of high-capacity donors and requires a strategic approach to fundraising and donor management.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Manager II will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Fundraising & Donor Management: Manage cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for a select portfolio of major donors, including current board directors and potential future candidates. Develop tailored engagement strategies for high-worth individuals to ensure alignment with Agency Campaign initiatives. Organize strategy sessions and events to enhance giving within the portfolio and influence giving from their networks. Collaborate with Leadership Giving Relationship Managers and the Senior Director of Leadership Giving to coordinate donor engagement plans.
Board Engagement Support: Assist the Senior Director in developing and implementing engagement and stewardship strategies for board members who are donors. Schedule strategy sessions and events to cultivate board directors' engagement with CRS campaign initiatives. Create high-impact communications and stewardship materials to deepen board member engagement and philanthropic giving.
Campaign Support: Aid in executing board-related components of CRS's fundraising campaign and contribute to board-hosted events and peer engagement initiatives. Prepare briefing materials and talking points for board members involved in campaign activities.
Cultivation and Pipeline Planning: Identify and cultivate potential board candidates based on past and potential giving and campaign leadership, in collaboration with the Senior Director and cross-functional partners. Support onboarding and experiential learning opportunities for new board members.
Events and Trips Management: Partner with the Events Team to ensure strategic alignment in board-related event planning and execution. Develop holistic strategies to advance donor relationships and broader engagement with the Agency. Guide the planning and execution of Journey of Hope trips, ensuring meaningful board participation and post-trip engagement.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor's degree in development studies, fundraising, business management, or related fields. Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in fundraising, board development, or strategic engagement, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role. Extensive experience working with institutional or private donors is essential, along with experience collaborating with senior leadership, boards, and volunteers. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree and experience in development and humanitarian programming, as well as non-profit management and supervisory experience.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in development studies, fundraising, business management, or other related areas. A Master's degree is preferred and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in relevant fields such as fundraising, board development, or strategic engagement. Additionally, at least 3 years of management or supervisory experience is required, demonstrating the ability to lead teams and manage complex initiatives effectively. Extensive experience working with institutional or private donors is crucial, as is experience collaborating with senior leadership and boards.
