Job Overview:
The Gender & Social Inclusion Consultant will play a crucial role in mainstreaming gender and social inclusion within the CIF’s portfolio. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance data management and facilitate the flow of information regarding gender and social metrics. The consultant will engage with the Gender Team and other CIF teams, ensuring that gender perspectives are integrated into knowledge products and project evaluations. The role also involves generating and synthesizing evidence on gender and social inclusion, supporting the drafting and dissemination of knowledge products, and leading the consultation process for the finalization of CIF’s Action Plan in Support of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Outcomes. The consultant will monitor the implementation of this Action Plan and collaborate with the Portfolio and Results team to embed gender reporting into existing processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for the following key duties: 1) Mainstreaming gender and social inclusion in CIF’s portfolio, which includes collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to manage data and facilitate information flow on gender metrics; coordinating engagement with other CIF teams; conducting quality assurance reviews of gender components in CIF-financed projects; drafting periodic reports for Trust Fund Committee meetings; and facilitating engagement with MDB counterparts. 2) Generating and synthesizing evidence on gender and social inclusion by drafting and disseminating knowledge products, coordinating knowledge-sharing events, and preparing supporting materials. 3) Finalizing and implementing the Action Plan for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion by supporting the consultation process, gathering data from MDBs for monitoring, and drafting case studies of best practices in gender and social inclusion from CIF-financed projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a graduate degree in a relevant discipline such as sociology, anthropology, geography, economics, gender studies, international development, law, environment, or climate science. They should have work experience in promoting gender equality, recognizing the differentiated experiences of gender-diverse individuals in the context of climate change, and identifying gender disparities in access to resources and decision-making. Sectoral experience in social dimensions and gender equality aspects of climate change, particularly in energy transitions, nature-based solutions, or urban planning, is essential. Candidates should also have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in development, preferably in knowledge generation, research, advocacy, policy, or projects/programs.

Educational Background:
A graduate degree in a relevant field is required, with a focus on disciplines that address social sciences, environmental studies, or international development. This educational background should provide a strong foundation for understanding the complexities of gender and social inclusion in the context of climate change and development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in development, with a preference for candidates who have worked in areas related to knowledge generation, research, advocacy, policy, or project/program management. Experience in the private sector, particularly in climate change mitigation or adaptation projects, is considered a plus. Familiarity with the processes of international financial institutions and experience working in developing countries are also preferred.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English. While no additional languages are specified as preferred, proficiency in other languages may enhance a candidate's profile, especially in the context of international collaboration and engagement with diverse stakeholders.
