Job Overview:
The Health and Nutrition Officer plays a crucial role in monitoring health and nutrition programs aimed at improving the well-being of communities, particularly vulnerable populations such as women and children. This position requires providing technical support in design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, data analysis, and service delivery to ensure that interventions are effective and evidence-based. The officer will collaborate closely with government agencies, partners, and community members to strengthen health systems, promote nutrition practices, and ensure that project goals are achieved efficiently and sustainably. The role is vital in ensuring that health facilities are equipped and that health staff are trained to provide quality care, ultimately contributing to the overall health and nutrition outcomes in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Health and Nutrition Officer will be responsible for a variety of key tasks, including providing technical support for the implementation of project activities according to the South Sudan Ministry of Health's basic package of health services. This includes ensuring that health facilities are well-equipped with medical supplies and essential drugs, monitoring these facilities to prevent shortages, and managing health and nutrition activities in Maban. The officer will conduct monthly supportive supervision, ensuring that all health staff adhere to standard procedures for diagnosis and treatment as per ministry guidelines. Regular monitoring and evaluation assessments will be conducted to ensure program quality, with narrative reports submitted to the Health and Nutrition Coordinator. The officer will also conduct on-the-job training for health workers, assess their capacity needs, and develop training plans. Community participation will be integrated into all project aspects, and the officer will facilitate weekly coordination meetings and document minutes. Responsibilities also include ensuring that children are screened for immunization, pregnant women receive appropriate ANC services, and deliveries are conducted safely. The officer will oversee data collection and reporting, ensuring timely submission of various project reports and data entries into relevant platforms.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a minimum of a diploma in nursing, clinical medicine, or public health, along with at least two years of experience in a humanitarian setting. Previous experience with UNICEF programs is considered an advantage. Candidates should have a basic understanding of programming, including the ability to complete or update indicator tracking templates and draft monthly project reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is required. A good understanding of the Maban context and the ability to speak Arabic are desired skills. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate leadership skills, integrity, organizational skills, and a goal-oriented mindset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a diploma in nursing, clinical medicine, or public health. This foundational education is essential for understanding the complexities of health and nutrition programming in humanitarian contexts and for effectively supporting health interventions in the field.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of experience in a humanitarian setting, which is crucial for understanding the challenges and dynamics of working in fragile environments. Experience with UNICEF programs is a plus, as it indicates familiarity with established health and nutrition frameworks and practices.

Languages:
