Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator for Anticipatory Action and Shock-Responsive Social Protection will play a crucial role within the Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) team at WFP. This position involves acting as a project coordinator for initiatives focused on anticipatory action and shock-responsive social protection, working closely with partner agencies and government institutions. The job holder will be responsible for coordinating strategies, early warning systems, response planning, and implementation efforts. This role requires collaboration with field offices, UN agencies, humanitarian partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective anticipatory actions are taken before shocks occur. The incumbent will also support the Head of Programme in strategy preparation and integration of various projects under the EPR and Social Protection team, ensuring that protection, gender, inclusion, and nutrition issues are mainstreamed throughout the program cycle. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative solutions to address the root causes of hunger and poverty in Honduras, particularly in crisis situations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include leading national and local level coordination of anticipatory action initiatives, providing guidance on risk analysis and targeting approaches, supporting technical alignment of anticipatory action plans, and facilitating policy dialogue with national social protection strategies. The incumbent will establish a weather monitoring protocol, review standard operating procedures (SOPs) for anticipatory action, and support the design and rollout of scalable cash transfer programs. Additionally, the role involves documenting lessons learned, contributing to emergency assessment capacities, and overseeing planning, budgeting, and implementation of project activities. The Project Coordinator will also monitor progress against milestones, support resource mobilization efforts, and lead field missions with partners and donors. Other tasks may be assigned as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in disaster risk management, environmental science, meteorology, agriculture, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security, social sciences, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be acceptable. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities, and a proactive approach to work. The candidate should be able to work independently and under minimal supervision, demonstrating efficiency in meeting commitments and deadlines.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in a relevant field such as disaster risk management, environmental science, or social sciences is required. A first university degree with additional years of related work experience may also be considered. Continuous professional development through training and courses related to the position is highly valued.

Experience:
The position requires at least four years of professional experience in early warning systems, anticipatory action, and disaster risk management. Candidates should have experience in designing and implementing programs related to early warning and anticipatory action, as well as experience in setting up anticipatory action systems for droughts and floods. Demonstrable experience in supporting governments to prepare for emergencies and leading training and simulations is essential. Experience in developing research initiatives related to anticipatory approaches and disaster risk management frameworks is also desirable. Familiarity with the cluster system or interagency fora is a plus, as is knowledge of WFP assistance modalities and gender programming.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish (level C) and English (level C) is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
