Job Overview: The Regional EVAWG Specialist will oversee the development and management of programs aimed at ending violence against women and girls (EVAWG) in the Arab States region. This role involves leading the implementation of regional EVAWG programs in alignment with international standards, providing technical support to Country Offices, and coordinating monitoring and reporting efforts. The specialist will also be responsible for capacity building initiatives, establishing partnerships with stakeholders, and contributing to resource mobilization strategies. The position requires a strong focus on advocacy and the development of knowledge products related to EVAWG.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the development and implementation of EVAWG programs in the region, ensuring alignment with international standards.
Strengthen EVAWG programming in both development and humanitarian settings, including the creation of joint programs and evidence-based proposals.
Provide technical support to Country Offices on national EVAWG programming and coordinate monitoring and reporting efforts.
Develop and implement capacity building initiatives for ROAS and Country Offices, providing policy advice and technical support.
Manage the resource mobilization strategy for EVAWG, providing technical support for fundraising efforts and researching donor opportunities.
Develop knowledge products and guidance tools, including policy recommendations and analytical reports on EVAWG.
Represent UN Women in interagency groups and contribute to regional advocacy activities related to EVAWG.
Required Qualifications:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field is required.
Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in designing and managing programs focused on gender equality and EVAWG is required.
Experience in program and policy analysis, strategic planning, and working with governments, donors, and civil society organizations is essential.
Experience in the Arab States region and familiarity with the UN system is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, or international development. A first-level university degree may be accepted with additional qualifying experience.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and management, particularly in advocating for gender equality and ending violence against women. Experience in policy analysis and strategic planning is required, along with a background in working with governments, donors, and civil society organizations, especially in the Arab States region. Familiarity with the UN system is an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French is considered an asset, enhancing communication capabilities within diverse contexts.
