Job Overview: In this full-time, maximum term position based in Kununurra, you will lead a team dedicated to achieving positive outcomes for children, youth, and families. The Team Leader – Youth Services will provide operational leadership and coordination across various programs, including Youth Justice, the Youth Hub, and Night Patrol services. This role is crucial in ensuring culturally safe, trauma-informed, and community-led responses to vulnerable young people, particularly Aboriginal youth. You will be responsible for implementing innovative solutions that transform the lives of children and young people, with a strong focus on prevention, safety, and positive engagement. Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be expected to build relationships with partner organizations and advocate for young people and families in a respectful, strengths-based manner.
Duties and Responsibilities: As the Team Leader, your duties will include leading and developing a dedicated team, building relationships with community organizations and service providers, representing Youth Services at community meetings and interagency forums, supporting community-led solutions, and advocating for young people and families. You will also be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating activities, managing competing priorities and complex scenarios, and ensuring that the services provided are culturally appropriate and trauma-informed. Additionally, you will oversee case management processes and ensure that the team meets and exceeds objectives to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
Required Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need proven leadership skills and the ability to nurture a cohesive team. You should have experience in case management and working with young people, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities and complex scenarios. A current valid driver’s license is required, and relevant degree qualifications in youth work, social work, social science, education, or psychology are highly desirable.
