Job Overview:
The WBG is seeking two Managers to lead its Environmental and Social (E&S) Risk Management units within the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) Vice Presidency. This role is pivotal in executing risk management functions to fulfill the department's mandate, which includes both strategic leadership and operational oversight. The Managers will be responsible for ensuring effective management of environmental and social risks across WBG operations, collaborating with regional teams, and addressing complex and high-risk situations in portfolio projects. The position requires a proactive approach to monitoring E&S risks during project implementation and ensuring that corrective actions are identified and implemented. The Managers will also engage with stakeholders, oversee complaint management, and provide strategic leadership to align E&S risk management with WBG policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Manager's duties include leading the E&S Risk Management team, overseeing specialists, and managing all aspects related to team performance, including budget allocation and staffing decisions. They will ensure the overall oversight and management of E&S risks across the WBG project portfolio, intervening in complex situations and collaborating with regional teams. The Manager will lead stakeholder engagement, oversee direct complaints, and advise on compliance cases handled by the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman (CAO) and the Inspection Panel (IP). Additionally, they will provide strategic leadership to ensure effective social and environmental risk management, support high-risk and complex projects, and represent the WBG in maintaining its leadership position in environmental and social risk management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in environmental science or a related field, along with at least 15 years of international experience in the public sector, private sector, and multilateral development finance, focusing on environmental and social management. They should have experience managing environmental or social risks in complex, multi-stakeholder projects across various sectors and regions. Leadership and people management experience in large, diverse, and technical organizational settings is essential, as well as the ability to provide intellectual leadership and support talent development. Knowledge of WBG markets, including Fragile and Conflict Situations (FCS) and International Development Association (IDA) countries, is also required.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in environmental science or a related field is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of environmental and social risk management within the context of the World Bank Group's operations.

Experience:
The position requires at least 15 years of international experience in relevant sectors, including public and private sectors, as well as multilateral development finance. Candidates should have significant involvement in environmental and social issues, particularly in complex, multi-stakeholder projects. Experience in development activities aligned with the mission and values of the World Bank Group is also necessary.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. While additional languages are not specified as preferred, the ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages could be beneficial in a global organization like the WBG.
