Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Finance Coordinator will oversee and coordinate all accounting and financial services for the mission. This role is crucial for ensuring the financial stability of the mission and compliance with Solidarités International procedures, donor requirements, and local laws. The Finance Coordinator serves as the primary contact for financial matters between the mission and headquarters, ensuring effective budget monitoring and management. The position also involves addressing the financial challenges of operating in regions with limited access and adapting to the dynamic nature of donor funding. The initial months will focus on financial reporting, proposal development, and capacity building for the deputy finance coordinator, preparing for the eventual nationalization of the position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct and coordinate all accounting and financial services for the mission.
Ensure compliance with Solidarités International procedures, donor requirements, and local laws.
Serve as the main point of reference for financial management, accounting, and budget monitoring.
Conduct financial reporting for terminated grants and develop proposals for new funding.
Perform internal financial analyses and contribute to defining financial strategies for cash-based interventions.
Build capacity and strengthen the skills of the deputy finance coordinator.
Monitor financial sustainability and adapt to changing donor dynamics.
Ensure financial information is accessible and understandable to various audiences.
Collaborate with local partners and participate in coordination platforms to enhance mission effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.
3-4 years of experience in a similar financial position.
Mastery of Excel and accounting software, preferably SAGA.
Strong financial analytical skills, with the ability to conduct monthly financial analyses.
Proven ability to design and lead budgets for new proposals in alignment with mission strategy and donor compliance.
Ability to work under pressure and maintain patience and self-control in challenging situations.
Solution-oriented mindset with strong communication skills to convey financial information effectively.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for managing financial operations within a humanitarian context.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in financial management roles. Experience in similar positions is essential to ensure the candidate can effectively handle the complexities of financial coordination in a mission with multiple sub-bases and varying donor requirements.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of any local languages spoken in Nigeria is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication and collaboration with local partners and communities.

The role is based in Abuja, where living conditions are reported to be very good, with each expatriate provided their own room and bathroom. The compensation package includes a gross monthly salary starting from EUR 4,533, which consists of a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided, along with coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. The organization implements a break system, allowing for time off every three months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked. Expatriates are also offered a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, dental, and repatriation costs.
