Job Overview:
As the Humanitarian advisor" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Advocacy Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping CARE's advocacy efforts in Myanmar, a country facing one of the most complex humanitarian crises in the world. This position is not merely advisory; it is strategic and outward-facing, requiring you to engage with policymakers, donors, and media to influence decisions that affect vulnerable communities, particularly women and girls. You will work closely with senior leadership within CARE, including the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and Deputy Country Director, to develop and implement advocacy strategies that resonate with the realities of affected populations. Your work will ensure that the voices of these communities are amplified in global policy discussions, and you will champion their rights and access to essential services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include leading the development of advocacy strategies focused on Myanmar, producing impactful briefings and policy positions, and representing CARE in high-level discussions with UN agencies, donors, and international NGOs. You will engage directly with policymakers and media to enhance CARE's visibility and influence. Additionally, you will build the capacity of CARE teams and local partners to effectively participate in advocacy efforts, ensuring that field insights are translated into evidence-based policy asks. You will also be responsible for strengthening partnerships with local actors to support locally led advocacy initiatives and representation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a deep understanding of humanitarian issues, particularly in the context of Myanmar. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Experience in advocacy, policy development, and humanitarian response is crucial. A proven track record of engaging with high-level decision-makers and influencing policy is highly desirable. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in international relations, political science, social sciences, or a related field is required. A master's degree is preferred and may be advantageous in understanding complex humanitarian issues and advocacy strategies.

Experience:
Candidates should have significant experience (typically 5-7 years) in humanitarian advocacy, policy development, or related fields. Experience working in complex humanitarian contexts, particularly in Southeast Asia or Myanmar, is highly valued. Familiarity with the workings of UN agencies, donor organizations, and international NGOs will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within CARE and with external stakeholders. Proficiency in Burmese or other local languages is highly desirable and will enhance your ability to engage with affected communities and local partners.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and may require travel within Myanmar and potentially to other countries for advocacy purposes.
