The organization operates in various contexts, including peaceful, conflict, and post-conflict regions, and is committed to making its curricula free and accessible to educators and humanitarian partners worldwide. GenHR's work directly engages with young people in classrooms, refugee communities, and humanitarian emergency settings, fostering informed advocacy and community leadership.

Job Overview:
The primary focus of this volunteer position is to support Generation Human Rights in its fundraising efforts for the second phase of the Imagine: NextGen Voices Reflect on Peace program, as well as additional youth programs. Volunteers will be tasked with conducting comprehensive donor mapping and research to identify potential funding sources that align with the organization's mission. This role requires a strategic approach to understanding donor patterns and developing a targeted fundraising strategy that will effectively raise funds for the organization's initiatives. Volunteers will work closely with the organization to ensure that their research and strategies are in line with GenHR's goals and objectives, ultimately contributing to the empowerment of youth through human rights education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive donor mapping to identify potential individual, corporate, and institutional donors interested in human rights education and youth leadership.
  • Analyze past and current donor engagements to understand funding trends and priorities.
  • Conduct in-depth research on donor profiles, including their financial capacity, philanthropic interests, and past donation behavior.
  • Investigate key competitors and similar organizations to identify successful fundraising strategies and potential collaboration opportunities.
  • Develop a comprehensive donor engagement strategy that includes personalized outreach, relationship-building tactics, and stewardship plans.
  • Propose innovative fundraising approaches, including digital campaigns, grant applications, and engagement with high-net-worth donors.
  • Create a timeline and actionable steps for implementing the fundraising strategy.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in crafting compelling narratives for donor engagement.
  • Familiarity with fundraising strategies and donor engagement practices, particularly in the nonprofit sector.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A passion for human rights education and youth empowerment, with a commitment to the mission of Generation Human Rights.

Educational Background:
A background in nonprofit management, fundraising, international relations, human rights, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant coursework or experience in research methodologies and donor engagement strategies will be highly regarded.

Experience:
Previous experience in fundraising, donor research, or nonprofit management is desirable but not mandatory. Volunteers should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the organization. Experience working in multicultural environments or with youth programs is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the organization's work, such as Spanish or French, is considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and the duration of the commitment is flexible based on the availability of the volunteers. The role can be performed remotely, allowing for international participation. Volunteers will gain valuable experience in fundraising and donor engagement within the nonprofit sector, contributing to meaningful programs that empower youth globally.
