Job Posting Organization:
UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, was established to eliminate discrimination against women and girls, empower women, and achieve gender equality. It officially commenced its mission in Uzbekistan in 2025 at the request of the Government of Uzbekistan to support gender equality and women's empowerment initiatives. UN Women aims to accelerate the implementation of the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) agenda through various programs, including Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) and Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE), funded by the EU Delegation in Uzbekistan.

Job Overview:
The UN Associate Volunteer will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of programs related to Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) and Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) at the national level in Uzbekistan. This position involves working closely with government counterparts, development partners, and other stakeholders to enhance gender mainstreaming in public finance processes and promote women's equal participation in economic life. The volunteer will contribute to various aspects of program management, including stakeholder engagement, monitoring and reporting, and communication efforts, providing practical exposure to the workings of UN Women and its initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will undertake several key tasks under the supervision of the Programme Analyst, including:
  • Contributing to the implementation of program activities related to GRB and WEE at the national level.
  • Supporting the drafting of Terms of Reference for consultants, monitoring contract durations, and maintaining documentation.
  • Assisting in monitoring and reporting processes by compiling information, drafting sections of progress reports, and maintaining activity tracking tools.
  • Drafting official letters, ensuring proper documentation, and maintaining contact databases.
  • Participating in program-related meetings, preparing minutes, and following up on action points.
  • Supporting communication and visibility efforts by preparing content and social media materials.
  • Assisting in organizing workshops, trainings, consultations, and outreach activities, including logistical and administrative arrangements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. They should demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment, as well as a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with social media platforms is essential. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively engage with stakeholders and contribute to program visibility efforts.

Educational Background:
A degree in social sciences, gender studies, international development, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant coursework or training in gender equality, women's empowerment, or public finance will be given priority. A strong academic background will support the candidate's ability to understand and contribute to the program's objectives.

Experience:
While prior experience in program management or gender-related initiatives is beneficial, it is not mandatory. The position is open to recent graduates or individuals looking to gain practical experience in the field of gender equality and women's empowerment. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and a willingness to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of Uzbek or Russian is considered an asset, as it will facilitate better engagement with local stakeholders and enhance the volunteer's effectiveness in the role.
