Job Overview:
The 2nd Decade of Life - Education/1MiO Officer will play a crucial role in UNICEF's efforts to improve educational opportunities and transition support for adolescents in Brazil, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds. The officer will be responsible for providing technical, managerial, and operational support to ensure that UNICEF's programs effectively address the educational needs of adolescents. This includes conducting assessments, providing technical assistance to local authorities and partners, and ensuring the effective implementation of programs aimed at enhancing learning opportunities and skills development. The officer will work closely with various stakeholders to promote integrated approaches to education and youth development, contributing to the overall goals of UNICEF's Country Programme in Brazil. The position requires a strong commitment to child rights and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by adolescents in Brazil, particularly in regions with high levels of violence and poverty.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the 2nd Decade of Life - Education/1MiO Officer include: conducting and updating situation assessments and analyses related to education and youth; providing technical assistance to municipal and state authorities, private sector partners, and civil society organizations; ensuring effective coordination of partner actions and contributions; managing and operationalizing UNICEF programs in Maranhão and Piauí; supporting design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting; preparing proposals and reports for donors; acting as the focal point for partnerships with implementing partners; providing technical support to regional and national program teams; and collaborating with team members and local authorities to promote integrated and intersectoral approaches to education and youth development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the position must possess a strong understanding of education systems and youth development, particularly in the context of Brazil. They should have experience in program management, technical assistance, and partnership coordination. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to child rights and a passion for improving educational opportunities for vulnerable youth. Familiarity with the challenges faced by adolescents in Brazil, particularly in relation to violence and poverty, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, international development, or a related field is required. Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in education, youth development, or a related field. Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Brazil. Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and candidates will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position is based in São Luís, Brazil, and involves working in a challenging environment with high levels of crime. Candidates should be prepared to exercise caution and adhere to safety protocols. The role is full-time and may require travel within Brazil, particularly to Maranhão and Piauí. Specific UN Volunteer entitlements, including insurance coverage and a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA), will be provided as per the UN Volunteer Conditions of Service.
