Job Overview:
The Program Officer II for the STRengthening Infectious Disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Nigeria initiative will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of project activities at the state level. This position involves providing administrative assistance and program management functions to ensure that the STRIDES Activity is executed effectively, adhering to schedules and budgets. The Program Officer will be responsible for collecting, compiling, and analyzing information relevant to project activities, offering administrative and project support, and contributing to communication and coordination efforts. The role also includes monitoring project budgets and ensuring compliance with documentation and deliverables. Reporting directly to the STRIDES Nigeria Country Project Director, the Program Officer II will also evaluate project progress, monitor subgrantee deliverables, and provide capacity-building support as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Officer will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing support to project management, delivering presentations, leading meetings, and collaborating with the STRIDES Nigeria team to meet project needs. The officer will synthesize existing information into summaries of project progress, support compliance oversight, identify project issues and risks, and coordinate with leadership to maintain project schedules and budgets. Responsibilities also include monitoring subcontractor deliverables, collecting metrics and data for reporting, maintaining project files, facilitating communication with partners, managing the project calendar, and providing administrative support as needed. Additionally, the officer will assist with financial tracking against project objectives and deliverables, interpret budgets, and serve as a liaison to internal finance and contracts units.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in public health, business administration, health sciences, or behavioral sciences, with a foundational understanding of project design concepts and practices. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. The ability to problem-solve, recommend corrective actions, and maintain strong organizational skills with attention to detail is required. Candidates must be articulate, professional, and able to communicate effectively with clients and staff, and must be fluent in English.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as public health, business administration, health sciences, or behavioral sciences is required. This educational background should provide candidates with a basic understanding of project design concepts and practices, which is crucial for the role.

Experience:
Typically, candidates should have a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in project management principles and practices. Experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization is preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is also advantageous, as it is commonly used in project management tasks.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as the role requires effective communication with various stakeholders. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory.
