Job Overview: The Program Officer for the STRengthening Infectious Disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Nigeria initiative will play a crucial role in supporting project implementation. This position involves providing administrative assistance and program management functions to ensure that the STRIDES Activity is executed effectively at the state level, adhering to schedules and budget constraints. The Program Officer will be responsible for collecting, compiling, and analyzing information relevant to project activities, providing administrative and project support, and contributing to project-related communication and coordination. This role also includes monitoring project budgets and ensuring compliance with documentation and tracking of subcontractor deliverables. The Program Officer will report directly to the STRIDES Nigeria Country Project Director and will be instrumental in evaluating project progress, monitoring subgrantee deliverables, and providing capacity-building support as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing support to project management, delivering presentations, leading meetings, and collaborating with the STRIDES Nigeria team to meet project needs. The officer will synthesize existing information and data into summaries of progress on key project activities, support compliance oversight activities, identify project issues and risks, and coordinate with leadership to keep the project on schedule and within budget. Additionally, the Program Officer will monitor subcontractor deliverables, collect metrics and data for reporting, maintain distribution lists for project reports, facilitate communication with partners, coordinate state-level project activities, manage the project calendar, and provide administrative support by writing and reviewing reports. The officer may also assist with financial tracking and coordination, interpret budgets, and serve as a liaison to internal units such as finance and contracts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in public health, business administration, health sciences, or behavioral sciences, along with a basic understanding of project design concepts, practices, and procedures. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. The ability to problem-solve and recommend corrective actions is necessary, along with strong organizational skills and attention to detail to meet project deadlines.
