Job Overview: The consultancy aims to develop, launch, and facilitate a virtual capacity-building initiative that empowers youth-led entities and content creators to connect, develop, and amplify reliable comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) content within their online communities. This role is crucial in addressing the urgent need for improved digital literacy among young people, enabling them to critically assess misinformation and create accurate, engaging content related to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The consultant will lead the design of a virtual short-course that emphasizes the intersections of SRHR, gender-based violence (GBV), and digital literacy, fostering a community of youth advocates who can navigate online spaces safely and ethically. The initiative will also focus on building skills for creating engaging CSE content that promotes gender equality and healthy relationships, while addressing the risks associated with technology-facilitated GBV (TfGBV).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the conceptualization and development of a virtual short-course on the intersections of young people's SRHR, GBV (including TfGBV), and digital literacy.
Develop the curriculum, modules, and communications assets necessary for the bespoke program and learning journey for youth participants.
Emphasize skills building for young people to create engaging CSE content and messages, focusing on gender equality, positive masculinities, and healthy relationships.
Incorporate youth empowerment strategies within the course to help participants develop their online voice and advocate for change.
Introduce safety by design principles to prevent and mitigate TfGBV and provide support mechanisms for participants.
Design and implement outreach strategies for launching and onboarding the first cohort, including relevant communications assets.
Serve as the lead instructor/facilitator for online modules, utilizing interactive pedagogy to engage and retain young content creators.
Collaborate with UNFPA colleagues and partners to mobilize existing networks of young content creators for the capacity-building effort.
Provide guidance and mentorship to participants for optional capstone projects. 1
Summarize the learning journey of the cohort, documenting lessons learned and recommendations for scaling up the initiative.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 7 years’ experience working at the intersection of youth, digital technologies, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), gender equality, and issues related to TfGBV and positive masculinities.
Demonstrable experience in developing interactive online learning modules and resources tailored for diverse young audiences.
Expertise in the ethical use of digital technology for gender equality, SRHR/CSE, and youth-related topics.
Proven track record of facilitating engaging virtual trainings focused on gender equality, SRHR/CSE, and GBV prevention.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory.
Educational Background: A relevant advanced degree in public health, education, gender studies, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Additional certifications in digital education or youth engagement strategies may be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should possess a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in areas related to youth engagement, digital technologies, and sexual and reproductive health. Experience in developing educational content and facilitating training sessions for young people is essential, particularly in contexts that address gender equality and GBV.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Asia-Pacific region would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse youth populations.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is home-based, with no travel required. The total duration of the consultancy is from April to 15 October 2026, requiring an estimated 45 workdays. Deliverables include an inception report, curriculum development, course launch, and final package of course materials.
