Job Overview: The National ProjectCoordinator (NPC) will play a crucial role in the implementation of the Brazil-ILO South-South Cooperation Program, specifically focusing on the project 'Towards Sustainable Development in the Peruvian Amazon: Prevention of Child and Forced Labor in Ucayali.' This position requires the NPC to manage and coordinate project activities, ensuring they align with the objectives set forth in the project document. The NPC will be responsible for overseeing the execution of project activities, monitoring progress, and ensuring that results are achieved in a timely and effective manner. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies, social partners, and other ILO projects, to facilitate the successful implementation of the project. The NPC will also be expected to represent the project in various forums and meetings, advocating for the project's goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Project Coordinator will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: preparing terms of reference (TORs) for project activities, selecting and reviewing products, and evaluating external consultants. The NPC will lead the preparation of the work plan and ensure its implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. This includes establishing performance objectives for the project team, coordinating with partners to design and review work plans and budget proposals, and monitoring the progress of project activities. The NPC will maintain strong relationships with technical officials and counterparts in relevant national organizations, facilitating communication and collaboration to meet project goals. Additionally, the NPC will organize training programs, conduct workshops, and prepare reports on project progress, ensuring that all activities are documented and communicated effectively. The role also involves providing legal and policy advice to government and social partners on fundamental rights at work, particularly concerning forced labor and child labor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in law, social sciences, or related fields. An additional degree or postgraduate studies related to labor law is considered an asset. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of labor rights and social justice issues, particularly in the context of child and forced labor. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the ILO's mission and values, including integrity, transparency, and sensitivity to diversity.
Educational Background: A university degree in law, social sciences, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with additional qualifications or postgraduate studies in labor law will have an advantage. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in the principles of labor rights and social justice, equipping the candidate with the necessary knowledge to effectively manage and coordinate project activities.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience at the national level as a project coordinator, implementer, monitor, or evaluator. Candidates with prior experience in a United Nations agency, non-governmental organization, or international cooperation will be preferred. Familiarity with international and national regulations related to forced labor and child labor is essential, as is experience in formulating national social and labor policies.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as the primary language of communication will be Spanish. Additionally, candidates should have a working knowledge of English, both spoken and written, as the ability to prepare technical reports and participate in meetings in English is required. Proficiency in English will enhance the candidate's ability to engage with international partners and stakeholders.
