Job Overview: The position of Auxiliar de Programa SO3 is crucial for providing technical, operational, and territorial monitoring support for the implementation of projects aimed at strengthening sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient food systems. Based in Quito, the role involves direct intervention in the provinces of Imbabura and Manabí, contributing to strategic initiatives that ensure proper inter-institutional coordination and timely operational responses. The Auxiliar de Programa will support projects related to climate resilience in food systems and economic empowerment for rural women, executing various processes to respond to routine requests through their supervisory line. This role is integral to achieving WFP's strategic objectives, particularly in addressing the diverse needs of vulnerable communities, farmers, and stakeholders in the food value chains throughout Ecuador. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various partners to ensure effective humanitarian assistance reaches those in need.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor and systematize projects and initiatives, coordinating with other WFP units and external counterparts, and preparing reports.
Provide support in executing administrative, financial, operational, and technical processes to ensure activities are carried out in the field, utilizing WFP's internal tools such as Wings, Self Service, and ITS.
Assist in developing and tracking roadmaps and work plans with partners, suppliers, and counterparts.
Establish and strengthen coordination mechanisms with provincial government entities, community organizations, international cooperation, and civil society.
Participate in organizing and executing events, workshops, field missions, and donor visits.
Contribute to generating evidence, lessons learned, and best practices.
Prepare periodic technical reports (monthly or as required).
Maintain updated technical and administrative documentation in SharePoint and other WFP corporate systems, ensuring key information is organized and accessible.
Travel to the field to provide technical and financial support for projects, primarily in Imbabura. 1
Assist the Research, Evaluation, and Monitoring (RAM) team in collecting and validating information in the field. 1
Support the preparation of proposals for bilateral, multilateral, private, and philanthropic funding. 1
Perform other activities as requested by the program officer in line with SO3 responsibilities and interventions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree or higher in agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, social sciences, rural development, or related fields. Additional training in development projects, planning, climate change, or related areas is desirable. A minimum of four years of professional experience in territorial, local, or rural development projects, sustainable development, agricultural policies, or related public policy areas is required. Experience in implementing and monitoring projects with a social, climate, food security, or rural development focus is essential. Experience working with grassroots social organizations and community organizations is valued, particularly with women's organizations. Coordination and inter-institutional linkage experience with state entities, international cooperation, academia, and civil society organizations is also beneficial. Experience within the United Nations system or international organizations is a plus.
Educational Background: A university degree or higher in relevant fields such as agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, social sciences, rural development, or similar disciplines is required. Complementary training in development projects, planning, climate change, or related areas is highly desirable.
Experience: Candidates should have at least four years of relevant work experience in areas such as territorial, local, or rural development projects, sustainable development, agricultural policies, or related public policy sectors. Experience in implementing and monitoring projects with a focus on social issues, climate change, food security, or rural development is essential. Additionally, experience working with grassroots organizations and community groups, particularly those focused on women's empowerment, is highly valued. Coordination experience with governmental entities, international cooperation, and civil society organizations is also beneficial, as is experience within the UN system or international organizations.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish (oral and written) is mandatory, with Spanish as a native language preferred. Basic proficiency in English (oral and written) is desirable. Candidates must be willing to travel to the field as required.
Additional Notes: This position is offered under a Special Service Agreement (SSA-L4) contract type, with a duration of three months.
