Job Overview: The Associate Communications Officer will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and recognition of the OSCE through effective communication strategies. This position focuses primarily on digital communications, requiring the incumbent to maintain and manage the OSCE public website, ensuring it meets the needs of various audience groups. The role involves close collaboration with other communications professionals within the organization, as well as with web developers, to deliver comprehensive communication support. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and distributing communication products, guiding internal contributors, and ensuring that all communications align with the organization's objectives. Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Communications Officer will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including:
Maintaining the content and structure of the OSCE public website on a daily basis, ensuring it is up-to-date and user-friendly.
Liaising with the Web Developer to address technical issues and implement improvements.
Guiding and training internal website contributors to ensure adherence to content guidelines and policies.
Collaborating with OSCE programs and departments to create communication products that align with organizational priorities.
Coordinating with communications teams across OSCE Institutions and Field Operations to ensure a unified communication approach.
Developing engaging texts, visuals, and stories for distribution across multiple communication channels.
Participating in a duty roster and performing other duties as required to support the organization's communication objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a second-level university degree in journalism, communications, multimedia, political science, international affairs, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience will be accepted. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, including social media and website management, is required. Experience in an international organization, NGO, or as a journalist is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong political judgment, analytical skills, and the ability to effectively present the organization's activities to external audiences. Familiarity with content management systems, particularly Drupal, is highly desirable.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a second-level university degree in a relevant field such as journalism, communications, or international affairs. Candidates with a first-level university degree may be considered if they have additional relevant experience. A strong foundation in communication principles and practices is essential for success in this role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in communications, with a preference for candidates who have worked in international organizations or NGOs. Experience in writing, editing, and producing communication materials is crucial, as is familiarity with digital communication strategies and tools. Candidates should also have experience in managing website content and using content management systems effectively.
Languages: Professional fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of another OSCE official language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term international secondment role, with a maximum service period of 10 years.
