Job Overview:
The Regional Programme Officer will provide substantive support for the implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of the UN Joint Programme on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and other related initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region. This role is crucial in ensuring that the programme aligns with UN Women’s strategic goals and effectively addresses the widespread issue of violence against women. The officer will work closely with various stakeholders, including UNFPA and civil society organizations, to facilitate joint activities and ensure that the programme's objectives are met. The position requires a strong commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women, as well as the ability to engage effectively with diverse partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Programme Implementation and Coordination: Support the implementation of the Joint Programme and related initiatives, ensuring alignment with workplans and donor agreements. Facilitate coordination among UN agencies, country offices, and partners to promote joint activities. Organize regional meetings and consultations related to GBV prevention.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting: Conduct results-based monitoring of programme implementation, track progress against indicators, and compile reports for stakeholders. Draft narrative progress reports and document lessons learned from programme activities.
  • Knowledge Management, Evidence, and Learning: Develop and review knowledge products related to GBV prevention, ensuring quality and relevance. Coordinate dissemination of evidence and learning activities, including webinars and regional events.
  • Partnerships and Advocacy Support: Engage with UN entities, civil society, and research institutions to promote GBV prevention initiatives. Prepare advocacy materials and document outreach results.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in social work, social science, public health, international development, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, gender studies, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels are essential. Knowledge of inter-agency processes related to ending violence against women in the Asia-Pacific region is also required.

Educational Background:
A Master’s Degree in relevant fields such as social work, social science, public health, international development, international law, or gender studies is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be considered.

Experience:
At least 5 years of professional experience in programme implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting related to ending violence against women and girls or gender-based violence. Experience in the Southeast Asia region, particularly in development or humanitarian settings, is advantageous. Familiarity with writing concept notes and donor reporting is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with strong writing and communication skills required. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is expected to last from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, with the consultant working four days a week, including at least three days in the office.
