Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Special Envoy include:
Developing guidance for transformative, innovative, catalytic, and actionable pledges related to human rights and climate action.
Creating and implementing a comprehensive workplan to operationalize the Sumaúma Pledging Tree initiative, leading up to its launch at UNFCCC COP 3
Establishing and coordinating the work of the Advisory Board to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of the initiative.
Actively reaching out to encourage commitments from a wide range of stakeholders, including state institutions, local authorities, indigenous peoples, and civil society organizations.
Supporting the co-development of human rights-based climate solutions with affected communities.
Organizing and participating in public events and activities to promote the initiative.
Developing promotional materials to raise awareness about the pledging process.
Mobilizing resources to support the operationalization of the initiative.
Serving as the secretariat for the initiative, processing pledges, and coordinating with various counterparts, including the Brazilian government. 1
Assessing the development of the pledges throughout the year using clear metrics and evidence.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in environmental studies, human rights, or a related field.
