Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteers for the CRVS Strategy Report involves contributing to the development of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Strategic Implementation Plan (CRVSSIP) for Botswana. This plan is crucial for aligning with the African Union Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG target 16.9, which aims to provide legal identity for all by 203
  • The Online Volunteers will work under the guidance of the Strategic Information Specialist and collaborate closely with the Communications Analyst to edit, proofread, design, brand, and produce the CRVS strategy report. This role is essential for ensuring that the report is not only accurate and well-structured but also visually appealing and accessible for wider dissemination.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be responsible for several key tasks:
  • Editing and proofreading the draft CRVS Strategy report to ensure clarity, coherence, and consistency. This includes rewriting sections to improve flow, adjusting text and headings for parallel structure, and ensuring that previews and summaries accurately reflect the content. Volunteers will also need to identify and flag any unclear or incorrect statements.
  • Designing and branding the draft report, which involves applying graphic design principles to enhance the report's visual appeal and effectiveness in communicating its message. Volunteers will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Strategic Information and Communications teams at UNFPA, gaining insights into how design can elevate the visibility of successful interventions.
  • Engaging in discussions and feedback sessions to refine the report based on input from stakeholders and team members.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should possess strong editing and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of grammar and style. Experience in graphic design is highly desirable, as the role involves branding and designing the report. Familiarity with civil registration and vital statistics, as well as knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals, will be advantageous. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, graphic design, public health, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant coursework or training that equips them with the necessary skills for editing, proofreading, and design work. A degree or certification in graphic design or a related discipline would be beneficial.

Experience:
While specific years of experience may not be required, candidates should have demonstrable experience in editing, proofreading, and graphic design. Previous volunteer or internship experience in similar roles will be considered an asset. The ability to work independently and manage time effectively is crucial, as the volunteers will be expected to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.

Languages:
