Job Overview:
The Analyst position is integral to the EBRD’s Advice for Small Businesses Programme, which aims to provide advisory services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to enhance their business capabilities and access to financing. The Analyst will be involved in various stages of advisory projects, including initiation, structuring, execution, implementation, monitoring, and completion. This role requires collaboration with clients to assess their business needs and identify areas where advisory support is necessary. The Analyst will also be responsible for developing project scopes, identifying suitable consultants, and ensuring that all activities align with the strategic priorities of the Bank. The position demands a proactive approach to business development, ensuring a pipeline of compliant projects that meet the needs of SMEs in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Analyst will work under the supervision of the Principal Manager and will be responsible for delivering various instruments and activities under the Advice for Small Businesses Programme. Key responsibilities include:
  • Structuring and executing advisory activities in accordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and internal controls.
  • Conducting thorough analyses of clients’ financial situations and growth prospects to provide impactful advisory support.
  • Generating a pipeline of high-quality clients and advisory activities in priority areas such as digitalization, green economy, and economic inclusion.
  • Monitoring the performance of portfolio companies and providing follow-up support to enhance their financing opportunities.
  • Collaborating with local consultants and stakeholders to broaden the pool of expertise available for advisory projects.
  • Supporting the Principal Manager in preparing internal and donor reports to communicate progress and funding utilization.
  • Implementing marketing and visibility activities to promote the Advice for Small Businesses Programme.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field, along with strong analytical skills to interpret financial accounts and conduct financial analyses. The role requires excellent project management and organizational skills, as well as the ability to think creatively and solve problems effectively. Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills are essential for managing relationships with SME clients and stakeholders. Proficiency in writing advisory project proposals and reports is desirable. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, and fluency in the local language is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is required, along with the ability to quickly learn new systems.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business, Economics, or Finance. Equivalent work experience may also be considered. Experience:
Relevant professional experience is required, preferably in commercial management consultancy, development institutions, or financial institutions such as banks. Candidates should have a good understanding of EBRD’s strategic SME priority areas, including green economy, economic inclusion, sustainable supply chains, and digitalization. Experience working in the local business environment and familiarity with the consultancy market is essential, as is knowledge of relevant stakeholders and SME business associations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both in written and verbal communication. Additionally, fluency in the local language of Tajikistan is essential to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders in the region. Knowledge of other languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This position is a short-term contract with a duration of 12 months. The role is based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, and may require travel within the country and internationally.
