Job Overview: The Supply Chain & Operations Officer plays a crucial role under the supervision of the Area Manager, focusing on logistics support activities specifically for WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives at the Maban field office. This position is vital for ensuring that RI's procedures are adhered to, facilitating the timely implementation of logistics activities. The officer is expected to possess a strong understanding of supply chain and logistics, particularly in emergency settings, and must be highly motivated to tackle operational challenges as they arise. Responsibilities include planning, procurement, asset management, fleet management, warehouse and inventory management, as well as transport and distribution of goods. The officer will also be responsible for maintaining effective communication with suppliers and ensuring compliance with RI policies and donor regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Supply Chain & Operations Officer's duties encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: acting as a member of the Supply Chain & Operations (SCO) Team, supporting the procurement coordinator and SCO Manager in delivering procurement support systems, providing input for procurement planning, processing procurement requests in a transparent and efficient manner, managing supplier relationships, ensuring quality and pricing of goods, maintaining accurate procurement documentation, conducting local market surveys, providing logistical support for distribution, managing assets, overseeing fleet operations, ensuring compliance with RI policies and donor regulations, and representing RI positively in all interactions. The officer must also ensure that all procurement activities are documented and compliant with local laws and regulations, and report any concerns regarding procurement integrity.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field. A minimum of three years of general logistics experience is required, with at least two years specifically in logistics within humanitarian organizations. High computer literacy is essential, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, and Internet applications. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong facilitation skills and the ability to adapt to a dynamic operational environment are crucial. Excellent written and spoken English language skills are mandatory, along with strong administrative and organizational abilities. The capacity to coach others and work collaboratively in a team setting is also important, as is cultural awareness and the ability to navigate challenging work situations. A commitment to RI's values and principles is essential.
