Job Overview:
The Men and Boys Engagement Consultant will play a crucial role in advancing the objectives of UN Women’s project aimed at restoring and strengthening preventive and protective services in response to violence against women (VAW) in earthquake-affected regions of Türkiye. The consultant will provide technical expertise in developing and implementing curricula focused on engaging men and boys in preventing violence against women and promoting gender equality. This role involves analyzing national data, creating training materials, and ensuring that all approaches are culturally sensitive and aligned with national legislation. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including government institutions and civil society organizations, to foster a collaborative environment for implementing effective prevention strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise on engaging men for EVAWG prevention, including the design and adaptation of curricula on gender equality and non-violent masculinities.
  • Analyze national data on men's attitudes towards violence against women and develop evidence-based training materials.
  • Ensure all materials are culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and compliant with national and international standards.
  • Advise on strategies to engage diverse male groups and support the rollout of Training of Trainers (ToT) modules.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure coherent implementation of engagement strategies.
  • Develop, adapt, and refine training materials and knowledge products focused on transforming harmful masculinities.
  • Review and ensure the quality of materials developed by implementing partners.
  • Co-design and deliver workshops on positive masculinities and gender equality.
  • Provide responsive guidance to partners and facilitators to support male engagement interventions.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in sociology, social work, gender studies, or psychology is required. A first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in EVAWG prevention and engaging men in gender-transformative programming.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing training programs for government institutions and community organizations.
  • Proven experience in monitoring and evaluating training outcomes and developing M&E tools.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as sociology, social work, gender studies, or psychology. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in areas related to EVAWG prevention, engaging men, and gender-transformative programming. Candidates should have extensive experience in designing and implementing training programs for government institutions and community organizations, as well as experience in monitoring and evaluating training outcomes.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Turkish is required for this position, ensuring effective communication and engagement with diverse stakeholders in Türkiye.

  • Payments will be made monthly based on approved deliverables. The consultant is responsible for any taxes due on fees received from UN Women.
