Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer for Video Editing is crucial in supporting UN Women in their preparations for International Women’s Day 202
  • The selected volunteers will utilize their advanced photo and video editing skills to compile videos submitted by the UN Country Team. This role is vital in ensuring that the videos adhere to the high standards set by UN Women, particularly in terms of technical quality and editorial consistency. Volunteers will work under the supervision of the Communications focal point, contributing to a significant global event that aims to highlight the rights and justice for women and girls. The role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the content being produced, as it will be showcased during a pivotal moment in the global conversation about gender equality.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review all incoming video submissions to ensure compliance with UN formatting rules, including 16:9 Full HD horizontal alignment, professional eye-level framing, and high-quality audio and lighting standards.
  • Manage the cohesive assembly of various agency inputs, ensuring seamless transitions between clips, consistent audio levels, and precise integration of institutional branding elements such as logos in SVG, AI, or EPS formats.
  • Oversee the submission folder to maintain rigorous file-naming conventions and ensure that all preliminary edits are completed by the deadline of 09 March 202
  • Utilize professional video editing software to produce high-fidelity outputs, including the generation of accurate subtitles and closed captions as required.
  • Collaborate with the Communications focal point to ensure that the final video products align with UN Women’s mission and messaging for International Women’s Day.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced skills in photo and video editing, with a strong portfolio demonstrating previous work.
  • Proficiency in using professional video editing software capable of producing high-quality outputs.
  • Strong understanding of video production standards, including technical formatting and audio-visual quality.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple submissions while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with the Communications focal point and other team members.

Educational Background:
A background in media production, communications, or a related field is preferred. Formal education in video editing or multimedia production is advantageous but not strictly required if the candidate possesses substantial practical experience and a strong portfolio.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in video editing, preferably in a professional or volunteer capacity. Experience working with organizations focused on gender equality or social justice is a plus, as it demonstrates an understanding of the mission and values of UN Women.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and submissions will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the regions served by UN Women, is considered an asset but not required.
