Job Overview: As the Head of the Artificial Intelligence Division at the EIB, you will be responsible for shaping and scaling AI capabilities across the organization. This role involves defining and executing the Group's AI strategy, which includes building a secure and scalable AI ecosystem that aligns with business ambitions. You will lead the Group AI Hub, combining expertise in AI engineering with strong leadership skills to drive the adoption of AI solutions that deliver measurable value. The position requires regular office presence at the EIB headquarters in Luxembourg, and it is a full-time role at grade 7, offering a permanent contract. You will work closely with various stakeholders, ensuring that AI solutions are compliant, resilient, and ethically used, while also representing the AI Division in governance and peer institution forums.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Define and lead the EIB Group's AI strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities and digital ambitions.
Build, scale, and operate the Group AI Hub, establishing enterprise AI platforms and engineering foundations.
Drive AI-enabled transformation by partnering with senior business and IT stakeholders.
Ensure trusted and responsible AI by embedding security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, resilience, and ethical principles across all AI solutions.
Advance the Group's AI maturity by leveraging data as a strategic asset.
Build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary AI organization.
Represent the AI Division internally and externally, contributing to governance and architecture.
Manage vendors and partners in the AI domain, ensuring compliance and effective service delivery. 1
Monitor AI technology and market trends to keep the Group at the forefront of AI innovation.
Required Qualifications:
University degree (minimum equivalent to a Bachelor) in computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, engineering, or a related field.
At least 10 years of progressive experience managing large-scale IT and digital initiatives, particularly in AI and advanced analytics.
Proven ability to manage and coach teams in multicultural environments.
Experience in implementing large-scale AI programs and re-skilling staff.
Strong technical background in AI engineering, including machine learning and MLOps.
Expertise in delivering secure and scalable solutions in hybrid environments.
Solid business acumen, preferably in banking or financial services, with an understanding of regulatory constraints.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, or engineering is required. A higher degree or specialized certifications in AI or related technologies would be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in managing large-scale IT and digital initiatives, with a focus on AI and advanced analytics. Experience in leading teams and driving technology adoption across multiple business domains is essential.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of other EU languages is considered an advantage. A good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire, but proficiency in both English and French is necessary for future career development within the EIB.
