Job Overview: The BRIDGE Climate Communications Undergraduate Intern position at WWF is designed for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in gaining practical experience in climate communication. This internship program, launched in 2021, is a paid opportunity aimed at students who may not have extensive professional experience or have not previously considered a career in conservation. The intern will learn to be an effective climate communicator and will gain exposure to various aspects of marketing and communications, including earned media, social media, creative support, thought leadership, and event planning. The intern will work closely with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Senior Director of Climate Communications to help position WWF in national and international climate dialogues, advance climate action through persuasive communications, and build connections with other climate leaders and organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include monitoring climate-related news and narratives, researching storytelling trends, and reporting findings to the climate team management. They will be tasked with writing social media copy and collaborating with the marketing and communications departments to develop communications collateral such as graphics, journalist backgrounders, and web stories. The intern will also maintain a climate facts database and assist in planning network-wide events during Climate Week NYC and COP3
Additionally, they will be responsible for turning climate team report findings into actionable messaging, ensuring that the communications efforts align with WWF's broader organizational objectives.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, candidates must be pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, sustainability, or public policy.
