Job Overview:
The WHE Information Management Associate position is designed to support the WHO Health Emergency Programme (WHE) in Nepal. The incumbent will be responsible for the end-to-end development, modification, implementation, and management of information systems that are crucial for tracking and analyzing health emergencies. This role is vital for enhancing health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and emergency risk management within the health sector. The successful candidate will be included in a roster for potential assignments related to health emergencies, although inclusion does not guarantee selection for a contract. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and other health authorities, to ensure effective communication and coordination during health emergencies. The incumbent will also be involved in capacity building and strengthening surveillance systems at the sub-national level, generating timely reports on public health events, and supporting the development of user-friendly information portals and digital platforms for health security.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the WHE Information Management Associate include:
  • Monitoring potential public health events through media and surveillance systems.
  • Supporting capacity-building efforts for surveillance systems at sub-national levels.
  • Generating timely reports on public health events or emergencies.
  • Coordinating with local health authorities and stakeholders to collect information on public health emergencies.
  • Preparing infographics, data visualizations, and statistical summaries for dissemination.
  • Updating digital maps for emergency operations.
  • Collecting and managing data for the development of information portals and periodic reports.
  • Updating databases on health resources in coordination with health authorities.
  • Supporting the development of websites and mobile applications for health security. 1
  • Implementing training and capacity-building activities in information management. 1
  • Facilitating the installation and maintenance of ICT systems and ensuring effective operations. 1
  • Coordinating with Emergency Operation Centres for health sector preparedness. 1
  • Supporting inter-sectoral coordination by providing updated information. 1
  • Liaising with various health networks to ensure effective coordination of emergency risk management activities. 1
  • Performing other relevant duties as assigned by the Team Lead or WHO Representative, including travel as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment. They should be self-motivated, able to manage multiple tasks, and demonstrate excellent organizational skills. A high level of integrity and commitment to professional responsibilities is essential. Candidates should also have good computer skills, including proficiency in office productivity applications, and operational competencies in data analysis and visualization. Familiarity with GIS, database management, and online survey applications is advantageous. Expertise in software programming and application development is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The essential educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary level education. A university degree in computer science, information management, public health, or management is desirable and considered an asset for candidates applying for this role.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in information management or a related area. Relevant working experience with WHO or UN agencies is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.

Languages:
