Job Overview: The Partnership Support Intern will play a crucial role in assisting the Partnership Officer with various tasks related to event preparation, organization, research, documentation, communication, and coordination activities that bolster the RCO’s partnership-building efforts in Indonesia. The intern will specifically contribute to the implementation of the RCO’s normative and partnership priorities, which include the Disability Inclusion Workplan, gender equality initiatives, youth engagement, and SDG advocacy. The intern will also support coordination efforts related to the Indonesia UN Consultative Forum, the Bappenas–UN Forum, and partnership-related work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other key stakeholders. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with diverse partners and contribute to meaningful initiatives that align with the UN's mission in Indonesia.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the implementation of the RCO’s normative workplan, particularly on the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS), gender equality, youth engagement, and SDG advocacy initiatives.
Facilitating inter-agency coordination and stakeholder engagement activities related to partnerships and normative priorities.
Assisting in the preparation of background notes, talking points, and meeting documentation for inter-agency engagements.
Supporting the drafting of partnership-related documents, including Terms of Reference, concept notes, briefing notes, and internal coordination materials.
Tracking commitments, actions, and follow-ups related to normative partnerships and consultations.
Conceptualizing and designing presentations, infographics, and other communication products related to partnerships and normative themes.
Maintaining web-based content related to RCO initiatives and ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in communication materials.
Conducting background research on normative issues linked to partnerships, including disability inclusion and gender equality.
Maintaining partnership databases, stakeholder mappings, and contact lists. 1
Assisting with data collection and presentation to support reporting and advocacy needs. 1
Supporting the planning and documentation of partnership meetings, workshops, and events, including preparing minutes and action trackers. 1
Ensuring logistical coordination for smooth event delivery.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for applicants to the UN internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Additionally, applicants must possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Skills in designing surveys and polls, as well as drafting news articles or social media posts, are desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. Programme. Proof of enrollment or completion must be attached to the application, and an official certificate will be required at a later stage.
Experience: While no professional work experience is required, candidates should have relevant academic backgrounds that align with the internship's focus areas. This includes studies related to partnerships, development, social sciences, or other relevant fields that support the UN's mission and objectives.
Languages: Fluency in English and Indonesian is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's profile.
Additional Notes: This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the Resident Coordinator Office. Interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. Those who are not citizens or permanent residents of Indonesia may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization.
