Job Overview: The Financial Officer position is situated within the Treasury Operations Department (TREOP) of the World Bank Group, specifically in the Quantitative Solutions and Analytics team (TREQA). This role is pivotal in developing and implementing quantitative models and financial solutions that cater to both internal and external clients, particularly in the realm of fixed income investment portfolios. The officer will be responsible for valuation, performance reporting, and guideline monitoring of these portfolios. Additionally, the role involves providing advisory services and capacity building for client central banks, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and other strategic partners. The Financial Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the Treasury's capital markets, asset management, and banking businesses, ensuring that the organization meets its financial objectives while adhering to best practices in risk management and valuation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Financial Officer will be an integral part of the TREQA – Capital Markets Analytics (CMA) Team, focusing on valuation and analytics to support the Funding Activity and Asset Liability Management. Key responsibilities include:
Designing and implementing quantitative financial valuation models and tools to facilitate new capital markets transactions for Bank portfolios, including bonds and derivatives with embedded options in interest, FX, and/or equity index.
Collaborating with the Finance & Accounting department for pre-trade model validation and post-trade verification of new models, ensuring compliance with market data requirements and risk analyses.
Engaging with internal units such as Model Validation, Risk, and Operations to secure transaction approvals and address valuation, collateral, and risk issues.
Delivering timely monthly valuations for complex financial contracts and resolving any valuation issues in collaboration with model validators.
Participating in discussions with auditors and acting as a subject matter expert on valuation models.
Contributing to the design and development of Treasury Systems, including business requirements and testing for IT system enhancements.
Supporting efforts related to LIBOR transitions, including system readiness and market data sourcing.
Monitoring market developments in valuation and risk analytics and enhancing the Bank’s analytics platform as needed.
Providing analytical support for the design of financial solutions and services for clients. 1
Responding to client inquiries related to Capital Markets and risk management products. 1
Training and guiding junior staff. 1
Performing any other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as finance, mathematics, physics, or engineering, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in valuation models, particularly in interest rate derivatives, including exotics, and financial platform implementation with a focus on valuation, risk management, and financial modeling. Experience managing financial IT implementations is strongly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in Murex and Numerix Cross Asset / OneView, as well as a strong theoretical and practical understanding of derivative instruments. Proven analytical skills in valuing complex structures, knowledge of econometric and financial modeling techniques, and familiarity with multi-factor Monte Carlo simulation techniques and option pricing methodologies are essential. Strong teamwork and communication skills are also required, along with professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or PRM being strongly preferred.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as finance, mathematics, physics, or engineering is required for this position. This educational background is crucial as it provides the necessary theoretical foundation and analytical skills needed to perform complex financial analyses and develop quantitative models effectively.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant work experience in the field of finance, particularly in valuation models and financial platform implementation. Experience with interest rate derivatives, including exotics, is essential, as is familiarity with capital markets and market conventions. The role requires a proven track record in managing financial IT implementations and deployments, which is strongly preferred.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English. Additionally, having a second language is considered a plus, which can enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and clients.
