Job Overview:
The position of International Chemical Safety & Hazardous Waste Management Expert involves providing specialized expertise in the management of chemical safety and hazardous waste. The expert will be responsible for assessing current practices, developing strategies for improvement, and ensuring compliance with international standards and regulations. This role requires a deep understanding of chemical safety protocols, waste management practices, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector. The expert will also be expected to contribute to capacity-building initiatives and provide training to local personnel on best practices in hazardous waste management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the International Chemical Safety & Hazardous Waste Management Expert include but are not limited to: conducting comprehensive assessments of existing chemical safety and hazardous waste management practices; developing and implementing strategies to enhance safety protocols; ensuring compliance with national and international regulations; providing technical guidance and support to local authorities and organizations; conducting training sessions and workshops for stakeholders; preparing detailed reports and documentation of findings and recommendations; collaborating with other experts and organizations to share knowledge and best practices; and monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented strategies over time.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in chemical safety and hazardous waste management, with a proven track record of working in similar roles. They should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. A strong understanding of international regulations and standards related to chemical safety is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to achieving results in a timely manner.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in hazardous waste management or chemical safety are highly desirable. Candidates with relevant academic qualifications and professional training will be given preference.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in chemical safety and hazardous waste management. Candidates should have experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in similar capacities. Proven experience in project management and the ability to lead initiatives related to environmental safety will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders. Proficiency in other languages may also be beneficial, depending on the specific context of the assignment.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is up to 120 working days spread over 12 calendar months, with the possibility of extension for an additional two years based on satisfactory performance. This is a full-time position, and candidates may be required to travel within Lebanon as part of their duties. The position is open to both national and international applicants, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
