Job Overview:
The Individual Contractor will work under the direct supervision of the responsible project officer and the overall guidance of the Chief of Section at ESCAP premises in Bangkok, Thailand. The primary function of this position is to support the preparation of activities and materials related to the project 'Automating the Future: Autonomous Vehicles for Greener and more Inclusive Transport – Policy Implications for Asia and the Pacific.' The contractor will be responsible for establishing an Autonomous Vehicles Partnership, which will serve as a platform for peer-to-peer learning and regional exchange among policymakers, industry players, and stakeholders. This role involves conducting a regional meeting in a hybrid format and developing knowledge products that include gender analysis and lessons learned from regional studies on transport. The contractor will also maintain project files and materials, ensuring that all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the design and establishment of an Autonomous Vehicles Partnership to facilitate dialogue and learning among stakeholders.
  • Assist in forming partnerships with academic institutions and private sector leaders to leverage expertise in autonomous vehicle technology.
  • Prepare and conduct one regional meeting in a hybrid format, ensuring effective participation and engagement.
  • Develop and disseminate knowledge products related to autonomous vehicles, focusing on gender analysis and policy implications for greener transport.
  • Maintain and update project files, including consultant materials, reports, data sheets, and contact lists.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure alignment with ESCAP's objectives and the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying challenges and proposing solutions to enhance project outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a university degree in economics, business, engineering, international relations, or a related discipline. Candidates must have experience in transport-related topics in Asia and the Pacific, particularly in digital transport solutions or low-carbon transport. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong drafting and editing skills related to transport and international development issues, preferably within the Asia-Pacific context. Familiarity with the Sustainable Development Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals is essential. Desirable qualifications include experience in the UN secretariat or other UN entities and familiarity with the UN editorial manual.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field such as economics, business, engineering, or international relations. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of transport systems and policies in the Asia-Pacific region.

Experience:
