Job Overview: The Business Development and Reporting Manager (BDRM) at CARE Syria plays a crucial role in leading resource mobilization, donor engagement, and strategic reporting for the organization's humanitarian portfolio. The BDRM will be responsible for expanding CARE's funding base, strengthening partnerships with donors, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality proposals and reports that align with CARE's mission. Reporting to the Assistant director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director for Programs, the BDRM will oversee proposal development, donor reporting, and funding strategy, working closely with various teams to position CARE as a preferred partner in Syria's humanitarian response.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Development and Resource Mobilization: Identify and secure new funding opportunities that align with CARE Syria's strategic priorities. Develop donor engagement plans and funding strategies to achieve portfolio growth targets. Conduct analysis of donor intelligence and funding trends to enhance CARE's positioning in the sector. Support senior leadership in donor engagement and representation efforts.
Proposal Development and Donor Reporting: Lead the development of high-quality proposals and concept notes, ensuring compliance with donor requirements. Manage internal proposal processes, including tracking opportunities and coordinating submissions. Ensure timely and accurate donor reporting to build trust and confidence with stakeholders.
Donor Engagement and External Representation: Build and maintain relationships with institutional donors and partners. Represent CARE in donor meetings and strategic discussions, developing engagement materials and presentations as needed.
Team Leadership and Organizational Capacity Strengthening: Lead and mentor a high-performing Business Development and Reporting team, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration. Strengthen coordination across CARE teams to align funding opportunities with program priorities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have proven experience in business development, proposal development, and donor reporting within humanitarian or development contexts. A demonstrated track record of securing funding from institutional donors such as UN agencies, USAID, ECHO, FCDO, and the EU is essential. Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills are required, along with excellent proposal writing and communication abilities. Proven leadership experience in managing and developing teams is also necessary, as well as strong organizational skills to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to humanitarian principles and CARE's mission and values is crucial.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international development, business administration, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have significant experience in business development and donor engagement, ideally with at least 5-7 years in a leadership role within the humanitarian or development sector. Experience working in complex environments and managing teams is highly valued.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable and would be considered an asset for this position, given the context of the work in Syria.
