Job Overview:
The Programmatic and OGMP 2.0 Support Consultant will play a crucial role in providing assistance on the coordination and organization of programs and projects within the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) team. The primary objective of this position is to ensure effective coordination and organizational support for the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0). The consultant will be responsible for facilitating communication and collaboration among various stakeholders, managing project timelines, and ensuring that all activities align with IMEO's goals of transparency, science, and implementation. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while also being a team player. The consultant will report directly to the Head of IMEO and will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive company data and information throughout the duration of their employment and beyond.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting the OGMP 2.0 team and IMEO's objectives. Key duties include:
  • Supporting the recruitment of interested companies to join the OGMP 2.0 initiative.
  • Leading the onboarding process for new member companies to ensure a smooth integration into the partnership.
  • Organizing meetings with both internal and external partners to facilitate collaboration and information sharing.
  • Attending weekly meetings, tracking action items, and following up as necessary to ensure accountability.
  • Managing the development, revision, and signature process of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with partner organizations.
  • Maintaining and updating the OGMP 2.0 website and contact lists to ensure accurate and current information is available.
  • Supporting the organization of events and conferences, including the Annual Implementation Conference and various team meetings throughout the year.
  • Providing communications assets and materials as needed to support outreach efforts.
  • Assisting with the Annual Reporting process by tracking the submission of reporting materials and following up with companies as required. 1
  • Coordinating contracts for OGMP 2.0 personnel, including preparing and revising contract packages and managing related procedures. 1
  • Supporting overall IMEO team coordination and facilitating the onboarding and offboarding of IMEO consultants. 1
  • Planning and coordinating events, including the IMEO annual retreat, to foster team building and collaboration.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Programmatic and OGMP 2.0 Support Consultant position should possess a first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor's) in human sciences, social sciences, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of three years of experience in administrative and coordination support is required. Experience working within the United Nations or an international organization will be considered a significant advantage. The candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role, as is the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a first-level degree (Bachelor's) in human sciences, social sciences, or a related field. This educational background provides a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of international environmental issues and the necessary skills for effective coordination and support within the context of global partnerships and initiatives.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of relevant experience in administrative and coordination support is required for this position. This experience should ideally include work within the United Nations system or an international organization, which would provide the candidate with a strong understanding of the operational and procedural frameworks that govern such entities. The candidate should have a proven track record of successfully managing projects, coordinating teams, and facilitating communication among stakeholders.

Languages:
English is the primary working language of UNEP's IMEO, and proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of stakeholders and partners.
